How are you living without Peppermint oil?

Updated: Sep 15, 2019

Peppermint oil comes from the peppermint plant commonly found in Europe and North America. It can be used as a flavoring in foods and beverages as well as a fragrance in many body lotions, soaps, and cosmetics.

Natures Sunshine Peppermint oil particularly has a wide range of health benefit. I'm going to share with you the many ways we use peppermint oil to relieve nausea, grow healthy hair, ease sore muscles, and much more.

Muscle Relief

Peppermint oil is an effective natural painkiller due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties. Besides that, peppermint oil calms muscle cramps and spasms. Nature Sunshine's Peppermint oil is especially useful when it comes to soothing back and muscle pain caused by flu or exercise. It feels great when used during a body massage; it can be applied directly on the skin.

Helps Indigestion, Nausea, and Upset Stomach

If you are a person that that uses medication or over the counter drugs to release bloating Peppermint oil is a great natural alternative as it aids in reducing spasms of the colon. It's terrific at relaxing the muscles of the intestines, which also reduce gas. My husband like this as I am a person that keeps gas, I can tell you from personal testimony it works for me. Natures Sunshine Peppermint oil requires only one drop in your water before meals and through the day as needed. You can also place several drops on your stomach and massage it, this works exceptionally well for those of you with small babies. For nausea, add a few drops of peppermint oil on your wrists or abdomen to help elevate the symptoms you can function throughout your day.

The Migraines Headache Cure

Muscle tension often causes long-lasting headaches and migraines. Peppermint oil improves circulation and relaxes tensed muscles.

The use of peppermint oil has been recognized to lessens tandem symptoms such as nausea and vomiting as well as sensitivity to noise or light. If you are prone to migraines, you should keep a bottle of peppermint oil on you at all times the bottle is small but it packed a big punch.

Mix a small amount of almond oil or coconut oil with a drop of peppermint. Rub the mixture on your temples, forehead, over the sinuses, and on the back of the neck. It will help soothe a headache and pressure. When applied topically, peppermint oil leaves a soothing, cooling sensation that feels refreshing.

Reduce Cavities and Freshens Breath

For thousands of years, peppermint has been used to naturally freshen breath. Research has found that using peppermint oil as a mouth wash is much more effective than the store bought chemical chlorhexidine at reducing cavities and keeping your teeth in tip-top condition. It's easy to make your own mouthwash and toothpaste. I use my bottle of peppermint oil by placing a small dot on my finger and placing it on my tongue. Just a drop gets the job done.

Increases Energy Level

Peppermint is a powerful treatment that provides relief from stress, depression, and mental exhaustion. Unlike essential oils Natures, Sunshine peppermint oil is a food grade oil that can be safely digested.

It is also effective against feeling anxious and restless due to its refreshing quality. If you are feeling pressured and stressed combine peppermint, lavender, and geranium oils to a warm bath. This combination relieves stiffness as the oils are absorbed through the skin.

Reduces Stress

Improves focus capabilities and mental clarity. For those with chronic fatigue syndrome, peppermint oil may improve your concentration. If you would like to cut back on caffeine simply rub some peppermint oil under the nose to gain some focus, concentration, and alertness. Apply some to the back of your neck and shoulders.

I work as a flight attendant where I often spray Natures Sunshine peppermint oil in the galley area, you know that tight space where everyone loves to stand and where the stinky laboratories are. It works there, and it will work in your workspace just as well.

Before going in the gym as well inhaling it before a workout can help boost your mood and reduce fatigue.

Treats Skin Health and Acne

Peppermint oil helps to calm skin inflammation, reduce redness, and lessen allergic reactions. Because of its antibacterial and anti-microbial properties peppermint oil aids to cure and prevent acne. It also serves as relief during eczema treatment. You can mix some peppermint oil into natural shea butter or natural oil and apply to your feet for pleasant, cooling sensations. I would recommend combining peppermint and lavender oils, apply it topically to improve eczema and psoriasis.

Treats Colds and Congestion

Menthol provides effective relief from many respiratory problems. This includes nasal congestion, sinusitis, asthma, and bronchitis, along with the common cold and cough. Inhaling diffused peppermint oil will ease your sinuses and offer relief to scratchy throats. This particular plant is often included as an ingredient in natural chest rubs to help with congestion. If you have a cough, massage two to three drops along with a carrier oil onto the chest. You could also drop the mixture into a humidifier to help clear sinus and lung congestion. If your head is feeling stuffed, try a peppermint oil steam. Pour boiling water into a metal or glass bowl, and add a few drops of Natures Sunshine peppermint oil; eucalyptus and rosemary are supportive combinations with peppermint. Drape a towel over your head, position your face 10 inches above the bowl, and breathe the steam in slowly.

Promotes Hair Growth and Protects Against Dandruff

Peppermint oil is used in many high-quality hair care products because it can naturally thicken and nourish damaged hair. It can also stimulate the scalp, energize your mind, and help you to wake up! Peppermint oil is a powerful antiseptic; it can also help remove dandruff and lice. Add two or three drops of peppermint oil to your regular shampoo routine or try making your own.

Reduces Fever

Because of peppermint oil's cooling effects, it is an excellent natural treatment to bring down a fever, especially in children. All you have to do is mix peppermint oil with coconut oil to get a natural rub. Massage it onto yours or child's neck and on the bottom of the feet to help stabilize a fever instead of using aspirin or other drugs.
